Mark has worked in the insurance industry since leaving school and has acquired over 30 years’ experience across both insurer and broking sectors. He is a Chartered Insurance Broker, Registered Financial Advisor and has a vested interest in Bureau Insurance.
His career included development of Insurance Schemes for industry groups and the management of sales and profitability for the Wellington branch of NZ’s largest insurer. Consequently, he is a skilled negotiator and uses his in-depth knowledge of insurer requirements to present each client’s unique risk profile in the most beneficial way.
He believes insurance is one of the most important contracts you will ever arrange, yet it is probably given the least amount of attention. As a qualified ‘Insurance Risk Specialist’, his aim is to help you identify risk exposures and plan ways to minimise them using exclusive policies, especially designed for church and missionary related organisations.
Mark is also a committed Christian and has been involved in church leadership, men’s ministries and home group development. His desire is to help safeguard church ministries and their charitable work in the wider community.

Bernie has worked in the insurance industry for nearly 40 years. After 23 years culminating in leadership positions within one of NZ’s largest insurance companies, he moved to insurance broking so that he could be dealing direct with customers.
For the last 10 years Bernie has owned his own broking company, Meridian General Brokers Limited. As a business owner, he knows first-hand the challenges faced by those who run businesses and NFP organisations. He also has a vested interest in ensuring that customers’ interests are kept front of mind and they receive excellent service.
Bernie is a Chartered Insurance Broker, a Registered Financial Adviser and holds a Diploma in Business (Insurance Management).

Gordon is the former owner of Bureau Insurance and has been faithfully looking after the insurance needs of Churches of New Zealand since 2014. He has built up a strong reputation for knowledge of the wider Church sector and a high level service ethic. He has been looking for people with the same traits to take over the business and further grow Bureau’s unique Church insurance offering.
With effect from 1st December 2017, ownership has passed to Meridian General Bureau Limited who will also trade as Bureau Insurance using the same formats and processes you have previously enjoyed.
Gordon will continue in a consultancy role to ensure a smooth transition for you and support the new team as they are introduced over the coming months. He is excited to pass on the reigns to people who are also passionate to support the invaluable work of churches in their communities.
